Aizawa is a Professional Hero who goes by the name of Eraserhead. His work is primarily underground and out of the media spotlight by preference, as his abilities are most effective when he has the element of surprise on his side (and he also just really dislikes media culture as a whole in general). As a result there's not a lot of public knowledge of him around, and most people don't tend to recognize who he is on sight; regardless, he's highly skilled at his job, and is regarded by those who do know him as one of the more formidable Heroes on the field currently. Aizawa is also homeroom teacher of Class 1-A in UA High, one of the most prestigious Hero schools in Japan; this is his daytime job. He generally has around twenty teens under his tutelage at any given time of the year, and he lives up to his reputation as an extremely strict teacher who won't hesitate to expel an entire class at once if they aren't up to snuff. This year's batch of students is...one of the brightest he's seen in his teaching career so far, though. Nobody has actually been expelled yet, which is unusual. It's possible he's getting a bit invested in these kids. He will never admit this of his own volition. (Don't talk to him or his twenty teen sons and daughters ever again.) Perpetually visibly exhausted. Practical and professional both on the clock and off. Prefers to boil things down to their rational parts in order to reach a solution as quickly and efficiently as possible. But a core streak of idealism persists, which is why he's still holding the jobs he has currently; he Cares a lot somewhere deep down in his sleep-deprived heart, and sometimes it shows.
Around 80% of the human population in MHA has some type of "quirk". Quirks are completely biological in nature, being the result of a genetic mutation that has now become highly rampant with varied levels of severity in recent decades. These days no one quirk is exactly the same, and there's a wide variety of quirks with an equally wide range of actual usefulness. Aizawa's quirk is Erasure: when he activates his eyes they glow red, his hair stands straight up, and he's able to shut off another person's quirk by looking at them. He's basically a ranged walking power-nerfer in canon, but this power has its caveats: Erasure does not permanently destroy the quirks it erases; it's more like a temporary stopper. General rule of thumb: if the ability needs to be actively switched "on", Aizawa's Erasure keeps that switch locked to "off" as long as he's staring at you. He wouldn't be able to erase Superman's bullet-proof durability, since that's a passive factor of Superman's physiology that is constantly and unconsciously at work, but he could keep Superman from firing eye lasers. While it's feasible that Erasure could extend to aspects of crosscanon powers, I'll keep this on a purely opt-in basis. It's very possible that his quirk wouldn't work or have selective effect on some powers from entirely different worlds. Aizawa is also a legally licensed and accomplished underground superhero who tends to tackle threats physically. His quirk only brings the enemy down to his level, so in order to compensate for this he's become highly proficient in a form of hand-to-hand combat that emphasizes taking down enemies bigger and stronger than he is. His physical prowess isn't superhuman but is athlete-par, though he prefers to avoid fighting his enemies head-on, instead employing covert short-length sneak attacks
